I would be surprised if it took you 8 months to finish The Magus. Once it gets going, I usually can't stop reading it. Generally I read it in one crazy weekend of madness. And love it. :)
Yeah, I find it really compelling whenever I can devote more than 30 minutes to reading it... but lately I only seem to have time for really short reading periods, hence all the essay collections. I will let your enthusiasm guide me though.
